In consideration of the whole point of Session 11, discuss how a musician can succeed in Covid times. What adaptations can they implement? What specific challenges do they face? Incorporate specific examples.

Despite the hardships that quarantine and travel restrictions have brought on to musicians, it inspired new and creative ways for musicians to get paid. With everyone at home online shopping is at an all time high so there is no better time to be putting out merchandise that’s really random or maybe too bulky to take on the road in person. Like ‘Guster’ made a mustard called gustard and plenty of artists have made branded facemasks which is a sure fire way to get your brand/name out in the public. Another way of monetizing is selling tickets to livestream concerts. I think musicians are having success with this because the tickets are usually much cheaper than concert tickets and people can attend from their own home, so travel cost is not an issue. And if musicians want to sell a VIP package, meet and greets have been made astoundingly easy with zoom calls. Lots of people have been able to pay to meet their favourite artists over video calls this year, and I’m sure many more would. There are definitely ways to make money as a musician in this trying time, you just have to get creative.
